About the Event

The Friends of Mount Vernon Trail will be improving the trail north of the intersection of Four Mile Run trail with the Mount Vernon Trail. We'll be removing invasive honeysuckle growing into the trail.

Volunteers may perform some of the following work:

  • Using pruners and loppers to cut vegetation

  • Using hand saws to cut branches

  • Hauling away vegetation and fallen tree branches

  • Picking up trash

What to Bring:

  • Water

  • Gloves (We'll have some to borrow)

  • Long sleeves and long pants (to prevent poison ivy)

See the picture below of where to meet on the trail. The work area is at the intersection of the Mount Vernon Trail and Four Mile Run NORTH of bridge. See the image below for the meeting location.

Parking: There is street parking along Potomac Avenue and then take Four Mile Run Trail to the meeting spot. View directions here

COVID Safety Precautions:

  • We follow current CDC guidance

  • Work will be performed outside with room to socially distance

Group Volunteering:

We welcome groups to come volunteer at our events. If you plan on having more than 20 people come on a particular weekend, just let us know via email (hello@mountvernontrail.org) no less than one week prior to the day of the event so we can better prepare supplies and promote your group’s attendance on social media.
